I just applied for a Senior Client Service Manager position.
I am praying to get it because it's what I have 19 years of experience and more.
Unfortunately, I wasn't even considered for the position. I wonder if it's because I am over qualified because I have an MBA. But that should not matter, especially today, when most people just need a job before they start thinking about climbing the ranks. Well...back to the drawing board.
Sympathies.
Unfortunately "overqualified" is a ridiculous reason to not hire someone. One of the best hires we made at a previous company was almost eliminated from the pool for being "overqualified". One of the fears was that he'd just take the job until he could find something "better". The key question really should have been (and was in the end) whether he wanted this job and would stick with it even though it was at a lower level than some of his previous roles.
Luckily for us, we offered him the position and he accepted. He stayed with the company for more than 15 years.
