Thought on PI Behavioral Assessments?
Pre-interview behavioral assessments – worth taking or not?
Unpopular opinion, I don’t like them I don’t think they are that accurate I have worked at places that use those and hire based on results and guess what ? We had some pretty bad hires not only with culture but basic ethics, I don’t think these tests should be relied on as a hiring basis people are not always honest when they take these things and I believe you can lie and “ fool” the test . It’s a matter of interpretation of the question Rebecca is right they are vague
Even if you don't get the job, you receive valuable insight into your personality for free. Self-awareness is a great leadership tool. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. I say go for it!
In most cases you won't get the job without doing so. They're amazingly accurate and more sophisticated than ever before. Be honest and DON'T answer with what you think it's asking. You'll do horribly and they will not get the real read out of who you are.
But they are sssooo vague.
I suppose there are some bad examples out there but I've seen some pretty spectacular ones for predictive behavior and natural tendencies as well. Here's an example: Before I was promoted to a director of a large company, I had to fly to MN to take a 3 DAY psych profiling (current day PI/PE.) It included classroom styled IQ tests, a day with psychologists digging back as far as my childhood, a 1000 question personality assessment, and 3 interviews with VPs. That was 20 years ago. I also did the Hermaine Brain Dominance testing and DISC. 10 years later the same company sent me a 2 hour PI to test and the results came back EXACTLY the same. (That same company now uses as 15 minute assessment.) 2 years ago a client came to me with a series of PIs he was thinking of adding to his suite of products. Knowing I had a history of this data for myself, I took several of the tests and compared them to the treasure trove of evaluations I had collected over the years. (They say a great PI will not change it if you take it year after year.) Of the tests I took 2 years ago (averaged 30 minutes each.) Each one was impressively accurate. Let me know if your company needs a recommendation for a better PI (although now AI is leading in recruiting trends!!) I find the entire trend fascinating (as you can see as I've droned on, sorry.)
