I am seeking a 100% remote Human Resources Generalist, HRIS Associate, or similar position.
I have 3+ years in compliance and internal audits of documentation and other administrative tasks. I have a total of 4+ years in administration of varying degrees, 2 years of supervisory experience and have recently started (in May) my HR career path. I also am on track to graduate with my BA in early December.
My previous position was dissolved at the end of April and I was lucky enough to have found my current position shortly after. However, I’ve noticed a few alarming details that have me worried for my job. We have multiple clinics in multiple states, and are opening more clinics in a new state, but have recently had to reduce positions at multiple clinics and will be closing a clinic at the end of the year. I also have noticed the CEO not acting in line with her company values, including attempting to terminate an employee with no reason.
Not to mention my HR Director coming in and saying (directly to me), “ We need to stop hiring young women, I just got another request for STD for maternity. Luckily we aren’t eligible for FMLA.”. I wish I was kidding.
It is a company with ~100 employees and I’m concerned there won’t be a future for me here. I would like remote because we are planning on moving states in about a year and I’d like to not lose a job due to the move. Any help is appreciated.
I am seeing less and less remote opportunities. You may want to move and then find a job. Even if you start remote, if you move, the new company may not have employees in your new state.
Being in HR you are privy to the background/machinery so to speak of your organization and have a lot of knowledge than many of the employees. What does your gut tell you? Congrats on your soon to be BA in December! That's fantastic and should help catapult you. Remember when we go through tough times it strengthens your "muscles" to tolerate many different environments. HR is the worst though as we hear what we aren't supposed to say but it is said, like not hiring young women due to maternity. I hate to say it but your employer sounds unethical to me. I don't know how many remote HR opportunities are out there, but have you looked at big banks that hire HR staff that may be remote? I worked for one years ago as an IT recruiter and many of us sat around the U.S. and were remote supporting different divisions. Companies that are very large may offer this as an option. I would certainly update the resume and seek work elsewhere. Using the we may be closing many of our locations and are required to move is a great reason why you are seeking. Hang in there and keep us posted!
