Good morning,

I've been an emergency department for 25 years and I need a change. I have a masters degree in nursing informatics but there haven't been opportunities fo me in that area in my part of Virginia. In addition to having clinical experience I also have experience as an adjunct clinical faculty member for a local community college ADN nurse program. I'm interested in a remote/work from home job such as documentation review, utilization review, informatics, content writing for nursing education, etc. I'm also interested in legal nurse consulting but I cannot afford to pay for the course right now. I'm willing to obtain certifications. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Take a look at https://www.newseason.com. We are looking for a systems trainer, which includes teaching users how to use our EHR. Travel may be required, but it is a remote position.

Would you consider an active nursing role, where you interact one-on-one with patients? You have some clinical experience which may qualify you for a more active role. Do you have a reason for your preference for a more passive role? I admire you whatever your choice; nurses are extremely important first responders. The world's medical crisis is far from over. The world nerds all the help it can get. Best wishes, whatever path you choose. Leslie Nurses rock!

I transitioned from a hospital laboratory career to an online content product job for an e-health company in the early days of the internet. I had no online skills, product skills or business skills but I knew a lot about medicine. That first digital job lead to a more technical job and the rest is history. Medical/health content and health/medical software companies hire nurses for many jobs (content creation, editorial review, taxonomy, data & informatics, account management, subject matter experts etc) I've hired plenty of ex-healthcare workers into content/technical jobs back when I worked in the healthcare software industry. I still have contacts in that industry, if you want to connect on LinkedIn, I'm happy to make an introduction.
