Stale job search
I left my job in December and my job searches are showing the same jobs over and over. I can't think of more key words to search with! I have a wide range of experience, a Master's degree, but no certifications or licenses.
What are some methods to create better job searches?
Congratulations!!!
I was just offered a job!
I was just reading your thread about the stale job search. I can really relate, as my job search as become really stale. I keep getting recruited for the for the same field I am trying to get out of. Its frustrating. I like some of the ideas and methods you and others have shared on here. I am going to give it a try as well. Thank you! : )
After experiencing some pretty negative work culture issues, I am very focused on joining a team where the culture is supportive, positive, and especially genuine. I, too, have targeted my search more toward best fits--I don't want to settle for something I might be good at but don't really like. Unfortunately that narrows the options!
This is my conundrum. Sometimes I feel like I’m searching for a unicorn! But I totally do not want to settle for something that will lead me bank down the same road of disappointment in the future.
It's definitely worth the wait. Just when you think you need to take ANYTHING, remind yourself what it felt like to dread going to work each day.
I’m in the same situation, except I’m still at my job while searching. It is hard- really hard! I feel like it has gotten even harder with the endless amounts of places you can search now. I’m narrowing my search down in 2020 to only organizations and jobs I feel are a match for my values. I’m also trying to connect with a person who works where I’m applying by sending a quick note on linked in. I just started switching up my strategy so haven’t seen results yet, but I feel like narrowing my search down to a particular niche and type of company will help me see things more clearly.
Thank you! I'll check that out!
Have you pulled together a personal marketing plan? They're a great way to get your job search more focused. Your job search will include not only using traditional job search boards, such as those mentioned by Kristen (I also love Indeed), but also through networking like crazy and visiting the career pages for those companies in which you are really interested.
FYI--I like the second one here: https://www.examples.com/business/personal-marketing-plan.html
Thanks Kristen! By "different places," do you mean company websites?
