Thank you gifts for references

What’s an appropriate gift and budget per gift for the former managers and colleagues who provided references for me? It’s for a senior level role. I need to get three.

I agree a handwritten note/letter is an appropriate gesture. If you had a close working relationship or have become close friends, a box of specialty chocolates or gift cards for Coffeehouse, restaurant, or bookstore/Amazon are also thoughtful gestures. Truly it depends on how well you know your references, how close you are, and how much effort they had to put in on your behalf. Hope this helps. And Congratulations on landing your new senior-level role!

A handwritten thank you letter in the mail. It’s actually plenty , thoughtful and a kind gesture.

I received a handwritten note for providing a reference. It was very thoughtful and I thought that this was an appropriate gesture of thanks.

This is a new one for me; I've never heard of giving someone a gift for providing a reference.
