Project Management in Nashville
I currently work remotely for an LA-based localization company doing their quality control, but my position is being eliminated as of November 8. It seems like a good time to find a job doing what I'd actually like to do at an actual office. I live in Nashville. My skill set is strongest in editing, writing, and proofing, but I have a natural talent for spotting operational issues and solving those problems. I have been able to practice project management in my current position, and I'd love to turn that into my actual career. If you hear of anything, can you let me know? Thanks!
Cheers on the new chapter! I agree with networking and sharing the ask with your friends, family and former coworkers. Something like, "I'm beginning a job search and can add value to teams and companies as a project leader, especially when they're looking to develop/ refine/ resolve issues in their operations systems and create a deeper, fuller sense of team cohesion... Would you be willing to introduce me to at least one person in your network who might know of someone or a company who might be a good fit or good point of contact? I'm grateful for your help and support!"
When I first got into project management, I pursued the PMP. As soon as I passed the exam, I put it on my LinkedIn profile and recruiters were contacting me. In the meantime, if you decided to pursue it, you can still put it on your applications and resume with a "targeted completion date" noted.
Good for you for taking this as an opportunity to transition careers!!! I suggest networking with people in a role like the one you want (this site is great for that) and seeing if they know of any openings!
Sorry to hear about the job elimination but it's great to hear that this is pushing you into something you want to do within your career! Have you taken a project management course to see if it's something you want to transition into further?
I haven't taken a course yet, but I've done a couple project management assessments through Indeed.com with Highly Proficient results.
