Vacationing while searching

I have two vacations coming in a couple of months that I can't work my way around. My current job is fine, however I'm actively searching for a new job in the meantime. Any tips on what to say if I get an interview and they want me to start soon?

Agreed with everyone who responded so far. Also, keep us posted on updates if you can and have a great time with your upcoming vacations.

Thank you ladies! I'll definitely keep in mind your advice!

I agree with Barb and Michelle. You can simply refer to the fact that you have "commitment" and don't even need to talk about it being personal. Who knows, you may seem more "in demand" and important in your current role, as a result.

I am seconding what MichelleS said above - when the time arises, tell them you have a vacation planned and it's usually not a big deal.

You don't really need to discuss this until there is an offer on the table. At that time, let them know you had planned these events prior to getting the offer. Usually it's not a big deal.

Exactly! Michelle is correct. Olivia: definitely take the previously-scheduled vacation because you’ll likely not have much vacation time during the first year of the new job.
