Favorite interview questions
(I'm posting this in a few groups to get different opinions.)
Hello! It's been a while since I had an interview and in preparation for one tomorrow, I was wondering what some of your favorite interview questions are to ask at the end. A few of mine include:
-What is your favorite part of working for this organization?
-What are the top three qualities you are looking for in the person to fill this position?
-What is the most challenging part of this job?
-If I were to start tomorrow, what would be the top priority on my to-do list?
-What does a typical day look like in this position?
-Do you have any other questions or concerns you would like me to speak more about?
Who are the most successful employees and what did they do to get there?
These are all great! I'm definitely taking notes. :)
I always like to ask what is one thing they know now, that they wish they knew when they started their role.
came here to say this!
"what do you wish that someone had told YOU (the hiring manager) the first day you started work at this company?"
These are all great questions and I plan on using some of them in the future. Another question that might seem out-of-the-box is "if you were to win the lottery, what would you do?" You might get an insight into what is important to the hiring manager.
I appreciate the responses I’ve received from asking “what forms of support and training will be offered to the successful candidate?” It’s given me insight to how teams may work after joining.
These are great questions!! I also like, "if you had to use one word to describe your team, what would it be?" Gives you insight if it is a team you want to join!
Best of luck with your interview! This one may seem a bit kooky, and it depends on the type of company I am interviewing at, but I like asking what happens in the office during "lunchtime." Does everyone stay at their desk? Does everyone leave? It's been helpful for me to get more insight into the company's culture—obviously, more of a pre-COVID question, but still relevant.
Hope the interviews went well! A question I always ask is "if there was one thing you could change about the organization (or the role, department, etc.) what would it be?" another way to phrase is "what keeps you up at night?" It's been a good question to find out some of the challenges the person faces without outright asking.
ooo i like this! it solicits some potential critical feedback but is still constructive.
First of all, best of luck Jen!
One question I like to ask: "Are there any charities or causes that the company supports?" It's not required for a company to support a charity of course. I find it interesting to see the different organizations that are supported though and why!
One question I always ask is, "What would you say is the most important responsibility of the position?" It gets lots of compliments and often serious thought from the interviewer.
