Reapplying
So I through a third party recruiter I applied for this job that is a great growth opportunity. The job description was like a perfect match to me and I just thought the initial phone interview with the company’s recruiter went great. Unfortunately, I wasn’t selected to come in for an in person interview because they said they wanted someone in the field instead of someone looking to start in the field. Which was a misunderstanding as I have been working in the field (UX) for the past two years (again the ask of their job description). Anyway I see that they still have not found someone for the position and recently reposted the position on LinkedIn. My question is should I reapply and how should I go about it. I know the recruiter’s name now and thought about reaching out to her directly on LinkedIn. Would that be too forward? I mean I have nothing to lose. I’m in a position that I love and would be happy to stay. But I’m still ready for a challenge and I think this position would be it. Any advice would be welcomed.
Here's what I would do:
1- I'd find peers at the company and ask them to connect on LinkedIn based on your common UX expertise.
2- Once they connect with you, thank them for doing so, and ask them if they would be willing to talk to you for 10 min or just reply back to tell you what are the types of results they are accountable for delivering in 2020, and ask them how you can be helpful to them.
3- Once you know what results they need to deliver, recontact HR by email (not LinkedIn) and tell the recruiter, you understand the company needs to deliver X result, and show something in your portfolio that addresses that need (or develop it to show what you can do) and invite her to discuss how you can deliver that result in X role that you understand is still open.
4- If HR does not respond, continue to nurture the relationships with peers you have connected with on LinkedIn, then ask for their advice on the open role. You can do this after the 1st connection but only if there's a stronger common bond with that contact, for example you are both alumni of the same school. In that case you can ask for advice on how to best position yourself for the open role (but it has to be based on the results you can deliver).

Best wishes!
Thanks for your reply. Such good advice. I’m not sure if it will work for this position because it a brand new position that has never existed in this company. But I will for sure utilize these tips at other companies. Thanks again.
Companies that are creating new positions sometimes go for people with more experience in the field even if they stated they only needed 2 years of experience. So maybe the best thing is to move on.
