Advice for applying to jobs for career change!
Hi All! I'm currently looking for a new position as a Product Owner. I have previous experience as a Software Engineer and have been getting a lot of messages from recruiters even though I've put it on my resume objective, LinkedIn headline, Indeed profile, Monster profile, etc. So I'm wondering if I'm missing something that I haven't changed to get messages for the role I'm looking for? Any other advice when applying with a career change would be super helpful!
I would recommend finding some job postings as a product owner and seeing what key words and phrases they use regularly in those job postings. Then, use those same words and phrases throughout your LinkedIn profile. In addition, if you have already done some product owner work in a job, consider changing one of your job titles to "product owner."
If you have any more questions on how to make the shift, feel free to reach out to me. I'm a career coach at a Fortune 100 tech company and I specialize in big career changes like what you are going for.
Best of luck!

If you are only relying on linked in, keep in mind this is a known issue that several folks experience, so don’t rely on that as your primary method.
You could use linked in to join professional groups to build relationships to network. And if folks that work at a company of interest show their resume visible to see, try to pay attention to the format and highlighted attributes and mirror when able since that is likely what got them the job. As far as where to spend most of your energy, try to find job search engines that cater to your industry and go to specific employer sites of interest to apply directly. Be aggressive and apply to 20+ jobs per week. Also be mindful of the critical key words used in the job announcements and try to infuse them as best you can in your resume and cover letter. Reason being that HR for many companies use software to eliminate packages that do not. Good luck
