To call or not to call
I've been told time and time again, one should always call after forwarding a resume. As a recruiter, I would prefer candidates not call because sometimes they call before I had a chance to review their resume, plus if they are a good fit that conversation isn't fun when someone is trying there best.
So, to all my recruiters and hiring managers, do you like when candidates or do you prefer to make that initial contact after your review the resume?
As a recruiter, others would think I should know better and that is why I'm hesitate to call. I prefer candidates don't call and let me reach out to them. I know with large corporations that is impossible.
We advise clients only to apply after they've had research conversations with someone internally. Mostly the recruiters function is to reject/gatekeep, so the jobseeeker only wastes their time when contacting the recruiter. Do you think this is different because you are looking for a recruiting job?
