I started a new job with a 'temp to perm' status via an Agency.

It was a rushed interview process and they needed someone to start immediately. I was thrilled I made the cut! It's the type of company, position and salary that I have hoped for since I lost my job due to Covid in March 2020. It's been over a month. I pressed the Agency to advise when would I be transitioned to "Perm" but I have not heard back other than they are waiting to hear from my Supervisor. It was never defined from the start... So, I feel unsettled. I am trying hard to have them feel they made the right choice and rise to the challenges. What is a normal time period? Thank you in advance.

Thank you all for the helpful feedback! I truly appreciate it and grateful for the Fairygodboss platform! Looks like I need to have a conversation with the Agency to clarify. I am now dealing with some difficult coworkers (which may be the reason this position was open)...

Typically it's a minimum of 90 days.

Any temp to perm job I've seen posted had a minimum of 3 months before a permanent role would be considered (usually similar to probationary periods for new hires). I knew someone who was in their contract role for a year before they were offered something more permanent and I also know some people that were never transitioned to full time employees but kept the temp work because the client liked their work. I think a month into the role is way too quick to be worried about this yet, but all you can do is your best while trying to get as much information as you can from both your agency and employer.

Congratulations! I agree with Jeslyn. Furthermore, I got many opportunities through contract work. I never went permanent, but my contract was renewed repeatedly because I proved myself.

The typical waiting period is 90 days; however, the client has a contract with the temp agency (which the agency should've told you) that you might need to complete a certain amount of hours before the client can hire you without paying a fee to the agency.
