How long is too long
I had a virtual job fair scheduled for 12:30 pm, it has now been 1 hour and I'm still waiting. At what point do I walk away?
15 minutes is about as long as you should wait. So disrespectful not to at least send an email if there is any kind of delay. So unprofessional!
Hi Rebecca. I'm very sorry this happened. I must admit, I would also likely wait for an hour. Though I agree with the others that this is much too long.
In reality, I would say 15 minutes past is sufficient time. Do you have an email contact for the job fair? If so, I would send him/her a message. Tell the person you waited for an hour but didn't connect with anyone. It's terrible that someone didn't have the courtesy to contact you; but there may be a valid reason for this having happened.
All the best...
I did and we talked briefly. I also contact InDeed and advised what happened. It appears she didn't limit the amount of people who could sign up and was the only one handling the interviews. She had over 200 people sign up.
Wow. I think you dodged a bullet there.
I did feel bad for her but someone should have given her a bit guidance.
Walk away. I'm sorry this happened to you.
I’m a little late posting this. I have not experienced this in a job fair but I have experienced this in phone and virtual interviews. An hour is too long to wait. Waiting 10-15 minutes is enough, beyond that the individual should let you that they are late.
Your time is valuable. I think 15 minutes would be adequate, honestly. If someone is running late, they should have the courtesy to let you know.
I give people a half hour max. That gives them enough time. Otherwise, they are wasting your valuable time.
That is my thinking. I know a recruiter would not conduct an interview if I was 30 minutes late.
