Hi there, so happy to be here :) I just completed my portion of a transition project for LAUSD (Los Angeles school district) and am once again looking for work as a data/technical business analyst, reporting analyst.
My question to others that are on the job hunt in IT -- I've had several recruiters state that my resume is on point (buzzwords, passing the ATS, formatting, etc) and I have a solid 15 years work experience in mid- or sr level positions. I am sending out my resume and networking like CRAZY, but I cannot seem to get much communication from recruiters out there. I'm super confused because there are a TON of jobs in my field and I'm trying to submit for at least 5 positions/day.
Are any other great candidates out there also having a hard time getting responses? I was assuming I'd get a lot more leads by now, and I'd love to fix the "issue" if a) there actually is one, and b) if the issue is ME.
Would love your feedback! Thanks in advance for anything advice you have to offer!!
Network like crazy! Attend Chamber functions in the area you want to work. Find conferences and seminars in your field of interest and attend them. Most positions are won through networking rather than sending out TONS of resumes! I finally landed my dream job with a marketing firm I've had my eye on since 2015! The company had moved into a larger office space and I attended a ribbon cutting hosted by the local chamber. I spoke with the CEO and gave her my business card and sent a follow up email. About 2 months later we talked and she hired me! :)
Congratulations, Nancy!

What sites are you using? I listed my information on several sites. I received the greatest number of responses from Monster. I was surprised since I didn't know the company still existed and only put my resumes on it because a friend insisted.
It sounds like you may need a more thoughtful, targeted approach. Job search strategy is essential, and networking is a crucial component of your strategy. LinkedIn is the most powerful networking tool available and if you're using it correctly, it will likely result in better results. Let me know if you'd like to discuss this in more detail.
Sounds like you're doing everything right - just keep your head up and keep networking! It's much easier to have someone get your resume into the right hands than it is to go through the ATS system (even if you have all the buzzwords). You got this!
I can only offer my recent experience with IT applicants which is, as a recruiter The volume of applications coming in is overwhelming, the lack of recruiting staff in most companies seems to be minimal at best and Coordinating all of the interviewing steps with hiring managers who are also short staffed has become the norm as opposed to the exception.
I’ve never quite seen anything like it but most company seem to be understaffed with recruiters HR, and talent acquisition staff.
It is problematic for companies as well, it did effect hiring overall.
The answer may sound simple just hire more recruiters but that seems to be where some companies spend the least money it’s a fish or cut bait and there’s a lack of understanding from leader ship on how important recruiters really are
Because they’re considered overhead.
I can only suggest you keep trying because there are a ton of jobs out there for IT right now.
And of course if you know someone at a company where you’d like to apply, see if they can hand off your résumé to HR that is very effective when someone hands me a résumé although I may have to redirect them to apply I have them in front of me and always contact them provided their qualified.
