Seeking job in education technology field
After 6 years of teaching, I've decided it's time to pivot careers (yes, I know, great timing). I have some background in edtech and am seeking roles in either training and implementation, customer success, or sales.
Right now, my network feels pretty small so I feel stuck just sending in applications. I know this doesn't generally lead anywhere though. Any advice or contacts? I feel odd trying to connect with a stranger if I am planning on applying for a job that has already been posted at their company.
Thanks in advance!

I just sent you a LI connection request..let's chat! I'm making a similar pivot out of teaching and into the corporate world!
Just connected!
I’ll try connecting with both of you. I made that same transition from teach to ed tech 18 years ago and still going strong!

Did you work with any publishers during your teaching career? Reaching out to former/current reps can be a great way to make connections in different parts of the company, or even for sales positions. I know a lot of schools are looking for IDs to help them get content online both at K-12 levels and beyond. I agree with Kristen- reaching out to similar roles at companies you're interested in is a great way to make connections and to even get a feel if it's the right fit before spending hours applying!
I never worked at schools that used traditional textbooks, but I have applied for some ID roles. Great idea!

Hi Kristen, thank you for the advice, especially about reaching out to people who are in the same position! I actually applied to a student placement specialist position last week, but one of my contacts says hiring has been very slow. I am definitely also interested in Admissions Counselor or SSA roles, just haven't seen any posted recently. I'd love to chat more, my email is [email protected]
