I have two children (3 and 1) and a new business.
How do I juggle providing a preschool education with learning to be an entrepreneur?
I was a teacher for about 6 years and went out on maternity leave around the same time the COVID-19 pandemic hit the US. I came back from maternity leave to distance learning and continued with distance learning until November. I had a friend who was providing childcare (with some educational activities sprinkled in) at the time, so I was able to focus on work without worrying about the littles.
I work while they are asleep and during naps, but there are times when I need to handle something time sensitive. I don't want to rely on the television to watch my littles while I work. Any suggestions?
The YMCA is open now and doing child watch by signing up for child care at two hours at a time. Perhaps an introduction to the YMCA may be a 2 hour focus break. And if you get a city wide membership you can pick the YMCA that fits your checklist of necessities. The leappad plantium was really good for learning or leappad EPIC kids actually learn things. Or a trip to the park with a soccer ball would bring on a great nap when mine were little and I could get a couple of hours of time.
Thank you for the suggestions! I'll have to look back into this once the YMCA by our home is open. Also, leappad sounds interesting. We've been using the "Homer" app but I think my 3-year-old is ready for something more robust.
I thought this article was really helpful: https://fairygodboss.com/articles/im-a-working-mom-and-manager--how-im-navigating-parenthood-as-we-continue-remote-work. Does any of what Diana says resonate with you?
Thank you for sharing! Diana's idea of creating and growing a support network for sharing stories seems interesting. I have a tendency to set really lofty goals, so cutting back slightly to allow for quality family time seems more beneficial in the long run. Do you know of any working moms who set schedules for learning time during their work day?
