I'm graduating this May with a degree in Marketing.

Any suggestions for good companies to work for?

While you look for a job, could you start your own consulting firm?

I don't really want to do consulting, but thanks for the suggestion!

Lydia, sending early congratulations and wishing you all the best! I work in marketing and it depends on what you want to do. You header says you're a Google Ads specialist. Are you focusing on digital marketing or what is your desired role? If digital or eCommerce, I would suggest an online portfolio. Create a folder and start saving projects and graphics that showcase a range of your work. Build a linkable online portfolio to provide examples when filling out an application. That will help you stand out from other applicants. In addition, update your LinkedIn profile with keywords for the type of job you want and highlight any skills or certificates you've obtained. Check out Hubspot and LinkedIn courses that offer free certifications. That way, besides your degree, you're demonstrating that you're an expert in for example content, lead generation, persona or inbound marketing. Select courses that pertain to the job you want to apply and that provides additional experience. In terms of companies, I would suggest prioritizing: 1) Determine location: Current or Relocating 2) Research the top 50-100 companies in that area 3) Select your top companies and start researching 4) Check if they have jobs available, paid internships, follow them on LinkedIn and after knowing more, reach out to recruiters with a targeted pitch or to introduce yourself. 5) Check out Glassdoor and Indeed 6) Determine their culture, interview process and salaries. 7) Instead of focusing on all companies, try an early, tailored approach to get your name out there and a foot in the door. Some companies offer paid internships that lead to roles. If applicable, now is a good time to look for the summer sessions as they often take recent grads. 8) Good luck and wishing you all the best in your search!

Hello, Thank you for this advice! I'd like to work in digital Marketing. I am working on my portfolio now and I'll keep the other advice in mind. I really appreciate it.

Congrats on almost being done! It depends on what your area is focused are. Do you want to work for a tech company, creative company, fashion? It is okay to have those wants and you'll be happier being in a sector that you want to be in.

Hi Huong, Thanks! I don't really know what industry I want to work for, but I do know that most companies need digital Marketing to be competitive. I guess I'll need to research it a little more.

That's a really broad question. What sort of work do you want to do within the marketing field? What size of company do you want to work for? What industries are you attracted to? All that aside, check out the Reviews section on FGB - it's a great place to start looking at companies and seeing how others in the FGB community rate companies on a rating scale that includes things that womxn care about. You'll find the Reviews link in the top navigation.

Hi Barb, Sorry that I was too general. I should have specified digital Marketing. I'll check out the FGB. Thank you!
