The best life: Retirement - full-time to semi and beyond.

Semi-retired

I semi-retired early, age 62. I had been working a full time job and a part time job just to survive. But 50+ hours/week was taking a tole on me. I found out I'd make just a little more with SS and a part-time job. Now I'm trying to find a better part-time job but it's difficult. I'm 65 and my hearing is bad even with hearing aids. I've been working temp jobs and every place I've been now, I've gotten them caught up in half the time they expected, but they don't need me permanently. I have my own 401K plan and have started taking some out every month. I have decided to live life on my own terms and to me, that means traveling anytime I get the chance. Just spent 8 days in the south of France and I'm headed to Arizona for Thanksgiving to cook for my 93 year old dad.

Sounds like you figured out what you need and want to stay engaged and contribute to life. It seems like there will be seasons of different activity based on what is happening in our life. So happy to hear you have the ability to spend time with your dad. That is so valuable to have that option. I was able to spend time with my parents before they passed and am so grateful.
