The best life: Retirement - full-time to semi and beyond.

I recently quit my job as a Project Manager because I only want to work part-time.

I am 58 and would love to find something that offers an opportunity to express my creativity, as well as my attention to detail. (I am guessing my age will work against me, and at full time, my salary was $75K/year). Can anyone offer advise as to how to find a part-time position with a decent salary?

I don't blame you project management is a really tough job and I'm actually surprised they didn't pay you more than $75k... thy really underpaid you for your age and your experience as a PM. There's plenty of 40 hour positions with biotech project management positions you can take on and would get you close to what you used to make. I know project managers typically wok 60 hours to 100 hours a week depending on the projects, so 40 hours would feel like its part time (even tho its not).

Hi there - there could be an opportunity to explore contractor/consulting roles that have more flexibility and hourly rates tend to be higher than salary as well. Depending your location/industry, you can explore some vendors that partner with employers for this type of work. Good luck and kudos to knowing what you want!

This is a great suggestion! OP, have you considered this?

Can you do consulting as your own company for now? There are also many staffing agencies (sometimes, depending on your area) who may have contracts.
