I'm looking for a new job that will allow me to work from home.
The problem is I don't know what to apply for. My background is in customer service. I have also applied for several work-from-home jobs. No luck yet.
An Update: A few months back I applied for remote work with a company called Sitel. I just got an email a few minutes ago from them. Im not all that sure about it but if they are willing to help me get my license to sell healthcare insurance maybe I'll give it a try
Some ideas: Call center - customer service or tech support; medical transcription; medical coding (you can take a course and get certified); translation services.
Check out jobs here at FGB and at www.themomproject.com.
Good luck!
Hi! If you're looking for career coaching to help stop cold applying and actually use your networks... the female-founded start-up I work for is the place! See if you're a good fit by filling out this quick survey: https://arcvida.typeform.com/to/wjWN56NF
Try looking at the site: flex jobs. So many options for wfh positions and many in customer service!
If you find something , please share! I’m in the same boat! Thanks & Best Wishes!
What have you done so far in your job search?
How about call center jobs?
I am also considering joining the WFH movement! I was actually more productive from home because it was quieter and I had fewer interruptions. Things I used to take in stride were hugely annoying to me after I went back to the office, but going back to WFH in that organization isn't an option.
Hi Leah, Customer service is such a vast field. In order to apply for the right positions for you it would be best to understand what part of "service" you most enjoy providing for the customer.
Do you enjoy helping other learn about the product they just purchased? Do you enjoy helping others fix an issue with a problem they are experiencing? Do you enjoy helping someone find the product that is the best fit to fix their problem? Helping other learn, best to apply for positions that maybe as Customer Service Support. For helping others fix an issue/problem would fall under a Customer Service Engineer and Helping someone find the perfect product can then be broken down further into niche markets such as serving ecoconscious consumers, travelers, homeowners, parents etc. by freelancing for large companies, retailers that carry many different brands
Once recognizing where you feel you can provide the best service you will then be able to target the companies, search appropriate keywords and reach out for work from home opportunities
