I'm in need of help for sure, I a little bit of everything, I'm 55 becoming independent for the first time. I have no real employment history, as I was not able to work due to DV. Any help would be so appreciated. I yearn to be a Life Coach for Women of DV.
Wow, I'm sure your personal story will be very inspirational to others. These are good tips about a path to coach^. I'm going to be realistic here and assume you also need a j-o-b in the meantime to make a living until coaching ramps up sufficiently. While you may not have been formally employed, everyone has accomplishments and experiences in their lives that can be framed as transferrable skills to paying jobs. Don't judge your experience by what you were paid (by someone else's opinion of your value). Look at what you have done from a skills, value, and impact POV. I've helped formerly homeless, janitors, "inexperienced" undergrads, retirees, etc. make killer resumes and see themselves in a new light.
Make sure you get proper certification and credentials for Coaching.
Are you or were you working with a DV organization? If one helped you when you left your DV relationship talk to those who made a difference. Find out how they became an advocate and coach. Let them know you want to give back. They may have some ideas.
