Networking: Get active in your local alumni chapter(s)
Alumni groups are great networking resources. It is not crazy to think that people can connect on something as simple as having attended the same school. Sometimes you get lucky and may even get called for an interview (in part) because of the school you attended. Either by reputation or common attendance with a reviewer. Who knows?
It can also be an easy place to network. Attend scheduled events! Or make your own event! I recently reached out to my undergraduate local alumni association chapter to see if they might be interested in hosting a workshop or panel with some resume/job advice and discussion. I am simply offering what I have and putting it out there. When you are positive, it comes back to you! I have gained new contacts, new exposure, new engagements, and clients this way. It could even lead to your next role. What do you have to offer? Put it out there!
