Resume tip from Joanna: color in the lines
I just spoke to a client and I wanted to something we discussed.
Some people try to foil the injustice of the job search process by doing something really out there with their resume in an"tricky" attempt to stand out. Even if it's clever, it will either go unnoticed or not be a good look. Believe me. E.g. weird colors, formats, custom fonts, photos, cavalier tone, hidden texts, etc.
Think of it this way- Color in the lines.
This is a game of perception. Judging a book etc. You can do whatever you want, but don't veer too far off that you get yourself eliminated or never seen. You don't want them to scratch their head, you want them to say "I'd like to speak to that person". I hope that helps!
This is great advice, thanks for posting! Would you be willing to share information on 1) resumes that you liked that led to an 2) enjoyable/productive interview and ultimately, 3) a new hire. Actual (redacted) resumes would be great too. Thanks again.

I recall skipping over calling candidates on some colorful and creative resumes because I pre-judged them in the opposite way they intended. Or because I couldn't find their experience in a fast skim.
Key words that tied to the job were always the things that caught me long enough for me to read the resume.
And don't get me started on creative fonts.
totally agree on fonts! Just be normal to be safe with fonts. I have seen resumes come through as WINGDING nonsense bc of a font mishap.
