Resume Over Coffee

I was with my previous company 10 years and my title changed 4 times in the last 2 years of working there, but my responsibilities stayed the same during those 2 years.

My last title change occurred days before I was laid off. I don’t want to raise any red flags with any prospective employers, but do I need to keep all of these title changes? Also when they call my previous job to verify, will they get all these titles? I feel like my resume just looks odd with all of this on it.

Good question! I have been in a similar situation and have simply used my current title on my resume. Job verification is different than a reference in that it simply verifies your employment dates and other basic information from your resume. Good luck in your search!

Keep the last title. It's normal to evolve within a company but you can talk about that during the interview – you don't have to indicate it in the resume
