How to negotiate salary for entry level with a master's degree in technology and Innovation?
Entry-level as your first job ever in tech?
You may have to take an entry-level job at an near-entry level pay to get some experience. It's been my experience that Master's degrees without experience don't land you additional pay in the tech world.
You can say that your educational background / course work and master's thesis that are align with the core job requirements means that you're not an entry level person and ask for more money than someone coming into the role with a degree.
Or your first job with a Masters and you have experience in your field or a related field prior to getting your Masters?
This situation is easier because you can stand on your previous work experience and your Master's education and ask for more money than someone coming into this role without a Master's degree.
Get clear on what this positions duties are and the goals for this role. How will you be expected to contribute to the innovation of the company? Is that contribution entry level status or a bigger lift? Highlight how you can bring more to the role than what they are looking for to justify your ask. Also think about non monetary perks that may balance out the difference; PTO, Internet stipend, home office allowance, student loan pay back assistance, project bonuses, schedule accommodations ect. Most do not ask for these and some companies are more willing to offer said perks without doing a cost benefits analysis first.
