Hello! I'd love to read some of the most recent work folks are working on. I'm a writer and professor in the Midwest. I occasional freelance for AARP's The Girlfriend Magazine, too. My first book, a memoir, is forthcoming in Fall 2022. Care to drop a link to your most recent work in the comments? I'll take the time to check it out. Here's a link to my most recent pub: https://www.thegirlfriend.com/parenting/what-this-is-us-hasnt-yet-shown-you-about-adoption
Here's a piece I wrote recently on the War in Ukraine: https://tns-gssi.newschool.org/2022/03/19/the-borderlands-of-ukraine-a-preliminary-approach/ I aspire to be professor and publish more broadly. Thanks for posting this prompt Jodi!
Hi Jody, I read your post. Congratulations on being chosen for the adoption – that's wonderful! And, congratulations on your forthcoming book, wow.
I've been a copywriter and editor for many years. I'm sort of semi-retired now (because it was not entirely by choice), but I am working on a first novel that I hope to finish this year. I started it a few years ago, but put it aside when I found myself in a job that took as many as 60 hours a week. Now I have more time for it and me. When COVID became a fact of all of our lives, I realized that it would impact my book, and I am revising accordingly. It has added an unexpected challenge to the plotting and certain aspects of the characters, since a lot of the action occurs in the present. I wonder how other writers are, or are not, addressing the pandemic or other current issues in their work?
My completed manuscript was submitted pre-pandemic, but I do have to revise one of the chapters to reflect our new reality. Because I wrote a memoir, however, much of it occurred before 2020. What is your novel about? I'd love to hear more.
