When have you been the underdog?
Underdogs are those people who are not popularly expected to win. You can be an underdog in relationships, society, at work, within your family, etc. It takes resilience (stamina) and resourcefulness (strategy) to rise as the underdog. What's your story and how did you stick it out and figure your way through your underdog situation? (Or, are you still in it?)
I have felt like the underdog all my life. I started out as a scrappy tom boy who was always told to be more lady-like. Then I fought the boys are better than girls battle when I was told technology was not a field for women. Even once I became an executive, I always had to work harder to prove myself, even after setting a career pattern of delivering with excellence. Know what gets me through? Something my mother told me long ago - they are just jealous of you because you are never afraid to try! She always said, "nothing beats a failure, but a try!" It's true! I've always learned from mistakes and used them to get better at what I do. I'll always be an underdog because I shun cliques and don't like to play politics... but, I feel good about myself and I won't let them keep me down!
