Transitioning
Hello to all! My name is Gisselle thought it would be a great idea to join the group and share my ongoing process. I moved to NC two years ago. My husband is the in the military. I’m from Panama but I have lived in the US before! I studied Law in Panama and I have an master in International Business Administration! I have not been able to find a position since I have moved. I have reviewed my resume I have spoken to career coaches and I have tailored my resume. I recently started sending in mail messages to network with professional on LinkedIn and I have not had any positive feedbacks responses interviews nothing! I was wondering if anyone has a good advice - suggestion - coaching advice regarding the situation! I’m looking for a position in compliance because of my legal background and working regulations, investigation and fraud! Thank you so much for the attention!! And thank you for having me in the group.
Hi Giselle, it's awesome that you've started trying networking! This might be an obvious thought, but have you started with your friends and your husband's friends ? If you're looking to stay in your area, you could research which local companies have employees in those types of jobs and ask your friends if they have any contacts at those companies that they'd be willing to connect you with? It doesn't matter if the contact does the same work you are interested in, they might know someone in the appropriate department they can connect you with.
There's a lot of things that you mention that I'm curious about and that could be areas where you could make some strategy adjustment. What are you saying in your LinkedIn messages? Have you reached out to anyone directly over email, or just LinkedIn? Also, are the companies looking for members of the NC bar to fill these roles/ are they housed within the Legal group? (As a former company attorney, some of those types of roles would have been filled by attorneys. Not all of them, but that also would probably vary by company.)
Hope this is helpful! Happy to try to help if this raises more questions!
