Career Changers!

I've been in the social services field for three decades.

In that time I have expanded but the field has not kept up with my spiritual growth. I want to move into the fields of human potential and spiritual research. I am looking to work with a company that is applying science to help people overcome trauma, thrive in the face of bias and inequity, and realize their own potential to live empowered lives. Any ideas on where I should start my search?

I resonate with your desire, Janine! I also want to assist people to overcome trauma so that they can feel safer in the world. I am not a licensed therapist, but I recently took a training on EMDR through PESI. It was free and fantastic! There are several organizations worldwide that offer certification programs for it. They speaker said EMDR was one of the most highly researched psychotherapies today. One of the certification places was called Greenhouse. Maybe start there? EMDR is the only area I can think of that uses extensive research for overcoming trauma. The field focuses on the brain's response to trauma, so you might also consider brain research of some kind. Anyhow, I hope it helps!

Wow! I love how you've explained and shared what you want — that's a great first step. I would recommend looking for people who do this kind of work first instead of going straight to companies. This way, you can get more of an idea of what they do and what kind of companies they like working for.

Thank you for that suggestion. Hadn't thought about it from that angle!
