Need Advice – At a Pivot Point
I am at a pivot point in my career where I want to assist people during the hiring, on-boarding, firing, and down-sizing time of their careers. I have experience managing people, teams and departments during the sourcing, hiring, developing, firing and even down-sizing stages, however, I have not held an “HR” position. How can I move into this area?
Hi Yvonne! As a career coach, I'd strongly recommend that you identify other people who are working in the kind of job that you want, and reach out to them to get their advice. You might be surprised how many of them don't have "traditional" HR backgrounds! Plus, once they know more about what you're looking for, they can advocate for you internally at their companies (and think of you first when a new role is posted). Have you tried anything like that yet?
