Hi, I just joined Fairy God Boss and am interested in the community.
I'm looking to make a career pivot from marketing in a credit union to an editing role in publishing. I plan to attend a certification program to get started on this. Has anyone successfully changed careers while working full-time in management, balancing kids and home life? I'm in the process of downsizing. I've been saying no to outside obligations to prepare for this transition.
Yes I have and you can do it! Just take it one step at a time and remember it’s all about your mindset practices to keep you going with ease, confidence and ultimately success.
Mindset hacks:
-Vision what you are working towards/what’s your long term vision, and focus on this every day
-What brings you joy? Do this often.
-Meditate to train your brain to soften and quiet the distractions and noise.
-Prioritize only what is most important, and let everything else go.
-Focus on what you’re ingesting (through food, drink, radio, TV, books, other ppl) and if you can cut out any negative or toxics.
Hope this helps and best of luck to you!!
Yes, I've pivoted (more than once) and help folks do this every day. Congrats on hearing your calling...one quick, important tip is to pay super close attention to your non-negotiable priorities so that you make the RIGHT choices for you and your family in this next chapter.
Imagine what your reality and day-to-day will be like. Get clarity on your strengths. Spend time reflecting on your skills used in your current roles (not only work, but life and volunteer too)...Here's a free tool to help you put all of these ideas to paper (or computer LOL)...www.rockonsuccess.com/soul
Please circle back and share what you learn about yourself, your needs and ask if you have questions about next steps on your journey....good luck!
Congrats to you! I think you're taking all the right steps & I'd suggest you start expanding your network and finding people in the publishing industry who you can connect with. When it comes time for you to make the jump they may be able to help you find a job!
