Career Changers!

Previously an Environmental Manager

I have worked in my field with of Environmental work- managing teams writing CEQA/NEPA documents. And working on compliance for big infrastructure projects. I am currently unemployed not by choice. I’ve been wanting to do something different with my skill set but the process is difficult and time consuming- especially with all the feelings of change and people not understanding my intent to do something different. My stomach has been telling me I can’t go back to what I was doing. I know my skill set- just need to find the right environment where I can make an impact.

It's important to know what type of impact ? For example a friend of mine works in environment/biology work for the Army, she loves it and makes a great living plus at the same time she gets to go out in the field, which is a great mix for her environment wise.

Totally agree! I'm a career change coach, and something I talk about almost every day are the 4 pillars of Career Fulfillment -- the 4 primary drivers of satisfaction in your work. If you're using your (1) strengths, working in an area you're (2) interested in, and in a job that meets your (3) lifestyle needs, you've got almost all the puzzle pieces in place. However, being in an environment that's in alignment with your (4) personality is critically important, and typically overlooked. When you think about the right environment for you, what do you envision?

That is the missing puzzle piece. I am secure in skill set it’s the finding a new industry or niche that would fit.
