Where do i start?
I have been working in Property Management for 15 years now. I have experience in single family housing, small apartment rentals, conventional properties, and currently in student housing. I am getting older and would love to some jobs that I could do from home, but have questions about how to get started transitioning to working from home. I am just not enjoying my job right now, due to them making a lot of different changes that weren't happening before. I work full time, so being able to look for a new job is hard, since I work from 8 AM to 5 PM.
Hi Terri,
Making a mid-career transition can be difficult because that's what I'm trying to do myself. Since you are trying to transition from property mgmt. into something else, the first thing you need to ask yourself is, what transferable skills do I have? What are my interests? What am I good at? Property mgmt. requires both soft and hard skills in addition to Marketing and Sales experience so I would look into home base customer service roles. I know of a few that actually are home based and will send you the equipment but you must have a hard landline, no VOIP or cellphone. The wife of one of my church members worked for Hilton taking reservations from home. If you're interested I can get that info from your and send it via private message. Just an FYI, she's been a home base reservation rep. for about 8 years but with the COVID-19 pandemic I'm not sure where her employment situation or the hotel industry stands at the moment.
