Hello All!
I am thinking of getting my Project Management certification. I've been in the Banking and Service Industry for years but I have always interested in PM. I wanted to know if there are any PM's out there that could give good advice when starting out. Is it hard to find entry level PM jobs?
I used to be a project manager. I did the CAPM and it's basically a baby PMP. You learn all the same stuff, but less in depth. You could do that and get a project coordinator job. Also, look for those transferrable skills from your existing employment. You could easily transition into PM work in the financial services or fintech industries given your current experience. GL!
One of the easiest jobs to find… if you get a PMP you can get hired almost anywhere for anything.
Hi, I don’t know if it’s still open, but I recall Google having a PM apprenticeship.
I have been a project and program manager for over a decade - focusing on complex, global programs.
I'd say that PM certificates like PMI are very helpful to get a foot in the door and to show some experience with project management.
A few things that I look out for in a junior PM are:
Attention to detailGreat PPT and Excel skillsAbility to keep track of action items/next steps in a very organized wayEmbrace the activities that keep projects running but that are not sexy (e.g., schedule meetings, clean up slides, take notes)
Thanks so much for the tips. This is so helpful!
A lot of PM jobs don't require the designation, so consider getting into the field before completing the designation.
Okay. Good to know. Thanks so much
