LinkedIn Training
Hello ladies,
As career changers, I am trying to acquire skills relevant to the industry of human resources where I would like to be. I have completed the Essentials of HR thru the Society of Human Resource Management. I will be applying to obtain the professional certificate. However, I am wondering whether the courses on LinkedIn are worth the effort, time and possibly expense. I am working on a Excel skills already but still need HRIS or SAP or an ATP. Anyone have any experience with using LinkedIn to acquire skills in specific industries or software specialties?

Here are HR courses. Also it looks like due to covid, some are being offered for free. Hope this helps.
Hi Jennifer! Congrats on the degree! I live in Ohio so I don't know if this is available where you are, but my library (both local and country) have accounts with Lynda (part of LinkedIn learning) and it's free to access using my library card. Once I complete the classes I can print or PDF a certificate of completion and add it to my LinkedIn page.
Is it worth it? Financially, I don't think so, I have done a good amount of courses and it's not been a game changer for me. But if you can do it for free? Hey, why not!
Is it worth it with time and effort? Depends, I didn't see a noticeable difference in getting a job but that's just me and there might be courses that would really benefit you.
If you want to make a real impact look into Coursera. They have accredited classes from top universities and you can apply for scholarships so you don't need to pay (I think it's free to audit the class but if you want the certificate, it costs) so that's nice. Also udemy has some good ones.
If you're putting forth the time and effort I think Coursera may be the best way to go.
So check to see what resources your local library has available to you and maybe you can get those classes for free!
