cybersecurity in the military
How would one break into US military cyber-UX without military experience (or clearance)?
Thank you so much for your insightful and professional advice @(Kimberly Mc/Minela Bajrovic). Your expertise, guidance to this original inquiry has truly been invaluable. I appreciate your support in helping me and others achieve our goals. Best!
because cybersecurity professionals are in such high demand, go to work with a medium to large government contractor (Raytheon, Lockheed, L3, etc) who has both unclass and classified contracts. It's easier to move around if the company has numerous contracts). once you're on board for a while ask your boss about moving to the classified side, and see if your company will sponsor you to get your clearance. If you're good, or even ok at what you do, they will probably jump for joy at your initiative. But keep in mind, many clearances (especially at the TS - Top Secret level are taking a year - sometimes longer to be adjudicated, so this will NOT be an over night process).
thank you! this is great advice and something I'm thinking about doing

First, let me state that I don't have military experience so I'm speaking as an outsider here but all the people I've known who where in the cyber groups in the military were members of the military first. I'd be happy to connect you with some people to get a first-hand take on the experience. Send me a private message.
good to know, thanks!
