Creating the Freelance Career

Let's talk communication.

How often do you feel it is okay for a company to send you an e-mail (a marketing e-mail specifically)? I get e-mails multiple times each day from some retailers and some businesses whom I never asked to join their lists email me once a day. What do you think is enough to keep the company on your mind but not too much that they annoy you?

I think daily can be a little too much, but a couple of times a week might be the right amount. It depends on the company and what they're reaching out about. I feel like I'm more inclined to open multiple emails from a company within a week if they're focused on different elements of the business or different offers. What about you? What do you think is the right cadence?

Every day is way too often as I sent most of those to my trash folder without even opening them. I agree that it depends what they are offering and how much value it has to my business and my life. A couple of times per week might be okay if the information is relevant. Once per week makes me more inclined to look at it and if I heard from them even less I think on a subconscious level I perceive more value in the message, like they had to reach out to say this so it much be important. The constant "chatter" from some companies ends up becoming noise I ignore.

That makes a lot of sense about the value. I definitely see less of a benefit when I'm spammed with emails daily.
