Need Advice – At a Pivot Point
I am at a pivot point in my career where I want to assist people during the hiring, on-boarding, firing, and down-sizing time of their careers. I have experience managing people, teams and departments during the sourcing, hiring, developing, firing and even down-sizing stages, however, I have not held an “HR” position. How can I move into this area?
Jill, thanks for this great insight, I will begin to add this to my resume and portfolio.
In positioning yourself for either, focus on the experience you have and the skills you've developed as opposed to focusing on job titles. You can talk about it either by numerics or anecdotally or both (meaning "I've been through x corporate reorgs and helped every one of my team members successfully find new positions elsewhere, etc.")
Do you want an HR position with a company or are you thinking more of becoming a career coach?
Hello Jill, I am open to either career coach or HR position.
