Setting a fee structure
I've recently decided to leave my position as Managing Director of a regional theatre and start my own arts management consulting company. Since I've spent over 20 years working for institutional theatres and producers, I'm not sure where to start in terms of establishing my fee structure. I have 14 years of Managing Director experience (and a master's degree) and helped guide one of the only theatres in the nation to successfully produce live theatre for live audiences during the pandemic.
My services will range from financial stabilization plans to pandemic and post-pandemic producing to interim executive services to executive coaching. I've heard that I should charge everything from $80/hour to $300/hour. Any guidance from y'all would be deeply appreciated!
Hi. Amy. I think the fee structure will be determined by which of the services you are offering as they all have different price points. Financial consulting, for example, can be $100-$400 an hour depending on the type of consulting or a flat rate in the low thousands (unless it is a long-term gig). Producers, on the other hand, average between $1-2k per week.
