Hello everyone!
What got you into the work that you do? What drives and motivates you to keep it up?
I enjoy helping others and knowing my actions have made a difference in their life, even if that means providing them with advice or suggestions. I work on a recruiting team in heathcare.
I never thought of AML as a career. I studied accounting, got my degree, and started working in a call center at a bank. Moved from there to Deposit Operations. Someone I worked with in Deposit Operations got a position in the bank's AML dept and when another position opened up, she encouraged me to apply.
It was the best move I made. I love what I do and wish I would have gotten into it sooner.
I look forward to each morning's new adventure. My goal is to arise early and put in some self-care time. That's what motives me to keep up with daily routine activities.
I had a long and winding career that wasn't exactly intentional until I reached my late 30s. So I've had wonderful experiences in corporate, government, politics, nonprofits, marketing, strategy, writing, etc., but it wasn't until I spent time discovering my real purpose that I found what I really love to do most, which is helping others figure out and land work that makes them full of joy! So I used all the experience I had and wound it into teaching career success preparation at a university and in my own practice now. It's so rewarding helping others get intentional with their life and career, no matter their age or career stage, so I really love what I do.
It was the first job offered to me after over a year of looking and trying to get out of a toxic environment. Survival.
Glad you were able to make the shift out of the toxic environment (and not into a new one, I hope!). Are there aspects of it that have motivated you to explore more in the field or do you think you will make another shift once you are out of survival mode?
Love to learn and grow; always looking for the next thing to increase my awareness.
Little daily steps lead to long-term goals. Boom!
I worked in a manufacturing facility and soon discovered that I had a passion for Quality as it related to Manufacturing Engineering practices, etc. That prompted me to take a role as an Entry Level Quality Process Engineer and began taking college classes related to that topic. Year later, I am a Manager within an engineering environment.
I spent 30 years in higher education as the director of 2 university career centers. In 2011, I transitioned that well-honed skill set to working with my own clients as a career coach and resume writer. What motivates me is helping my high-achieving clients land their dream job - there is no better feeling!
It pays the bills and the loans...(most of the time).
Changed my major at the end of my fourth year of undergrad...to a degree that basically required more education. Now regret both choices but hey I have a job and a roof over my head so I am grateful for that.
