American Dirt by Jeannine Cummings
After a woman's husband was killed by the cartel in Acapulco, she flees to America with her small son. The reality of their journey is heartbreaking and mesmerizing. Let's talk about it! Has anyone read it?
I loved this book! Admittedly, immigration/border control is not something I've thought a lot about, it was eye opening and intriguing, and of course in parts devastating. Great book!
As a mother, I was mesmerized by each page and couldn't put this down. I tend to have a strong view about immigration, but this book was eye-opening and thought provoking. I also wondered--despite how strong I think I am--could I have made the journey in the same situation?
