Welcome, UXers!
I’ve enjoyed FairyGodBoss for awhile now, so want to pay forward to my sister UX professionals.
I’ve enjoyed a long, varied career co-inventing the UX discipline. I’ve been a solopreneur, a bootstrapped startup owner with partners, a full time UX interaction designer at a Fortune 100 enterprise, a contractor/consultant, a vendor, and a UX leader in startups.
These days I run Firecat Studio, a UX consultancy in the US. We facilitate strategy, design sprints, and help UX teams, leadership teams and product teams win through differentiating their orgs through superior user and employee strategy.
How things were back then are not how they are now. I look forward to networking and learning from you all!
Hi ladies,
My name is Izzy and I am currently a market researcher at a B2B SaaS company and I am looking to become a UX researcher in NYC. If anyone has any leads or advice, please let me know. I'm looking forward to connecting with more ladies in UX!
Hi all! I'm in the process of (attempting to) transition into the UX/tech field. I have an anthropology background & I'm looking into UI/UX boot camps. Is there anyone in the group who doesn't have a background related to design or tech? I'd really like to connect.
Also, what was one thing you wish you had known/done prior to getting an entry-level role in UI/UX design?
Hi UXers! I'm in the same boat as Je. I have a research background in applied psychology (qual and quant) and survey research and am curious to know the best ways to "shadow" (that @AnneM523 mentioned) now that we are all working remotely and only 1 person at my work does UX some of the time.
If anyone's got any leads or advice, I'd love to connect with you!
Thanks.
Hi! I have a copywriting/creative concepting background - minimal design or tech experience. Do you know anyone in UX/tech? If so, is it possible to "shadow" him/her for a half-day or a sit in a meeting at his/her job (with permission - don't just show up! lol) to get a feel for what the workflow looks/feels like? With an anthropology background, you'd be great at creating personas, empathy maps, etc. to convey an educated POV of what potential customers need/want from a specific product/service.
Following this comment because I also have no background in design or tech and am interested in learning more!
Hi, I still feel kind of new to this UX/UI industry. I have been working for almost 6 months on my first job as a UI designer. I've been having a hard time getting into all of this, even though I was an Interactive Designer for almost 10 yrs! I am happy to meet other UXers girls! :)
Hi - I'm new to the UX space, but am interested in UX writing. The training programs/classes I've seen are either design-focused or really pricey. Any suggestions as to where I can find an affordable/free program to hone my writing skills? Thx!
Hi Focused :D I just happened to come across this skillshare class that I'd bookmarked a while back. I haven't actually *taken* this class yet, but it looks pretty good from an overview perspective. I find a lot of good classes on Skillshare and I'm pretty sure you can join for free for a month. Would love to know what you think of this class if you take it. Good luck! https://www.skillshare.com/classes/10-Copywriting-Hacks-That-Work-in-2018/860907142
Thank u - I’ll definitely check this out!
