How are you virtually staying connected?
Hey FGB'ers! Each week I have 2-4 happy hours with friends and/or family video chats. And each person is using a different platform for videos. Platforms have differed from using: the Portable Facebook video chat, Zoom, FaceTime, and an app called Marco Polo which is apparently a “live” version of Snapchat, but a less “live" version of FaceTime.
How are you staying connected with friends, family and colleagues and do you have a favorite software that works for you??
Snapchat has helped keep older family members in touch with younger. My kids and my mom message, send videos, and live video call one another. I just showed my mom how to use filters (20 minutes of giggles) and now they are even more active together on the platform.
COVID-19 has quickly shifted the way we do nearly everything, especially work. On my podcast, Urban Girl Corporate World, I shared three bonus episodes dedicated to Thriving in COVID-19.
I share great strategies that leverage tech as a driver engagement and productivity. I also interviewed an entrepreneur that speaks to digitizing your enterprise as well as a psychiatrist a bout maintaining mental health.
Socially I have been hosting Facetime calls with family members, and even helped my niece with her math homework over Zoom. My gym has been hosting virtual group fitness sessions, and walking during meetings where I don't have to be at my computer really has been helping me shed the pounds!

I recently celebrated my nephew's quarantine birthday party, and rocked a confetti virtual background for it on Zoom. I can't get myself to do a virtual happy hour, though, but I'd like to! I just feel like I'd need the music!
Ha! Confetti background = best.
I hear ya, music would be a great addition. I'm doing a virtual taboo happy hour this weekend and it'll be interesting to see if it actually works or if we're all just talking over each other. :)
Our church is using zoom. It works well. Our pastor has added a special password for Sunday mornings as we have many children joining on-line and we want to protect them from the latest hackers who find some kind of pleasure in disrupting in ways that are not for children's eyes. It is an easy work around though!
That's great, Linda!
