Setting up my home office
I realized that my kids behave really differently when they know I'm around, even if I shut the door and tell the I'm busy working. So to help out my (young) children's babysitter and at her request, today I moved downstairs with my husband to a room that's like an in-laws quarters and outside our main house. and told them I was going to work (as in, in my office, as usual). It was like night and day in terms of productivity levels. Has anyone else figured out a way to do this? I had a video conference today with someone who had a makeshift office under his staircase in the basement. It was dark and the dog kept barking but we both had a good laugh at the Harry Potter analogy.
These are genius! Now...any ideas for how to get your dogs to stop barking/whining?
Great question! I gave my two kids a "Do not disturb" when you need quiet time. Perhaps you could wear a colorful bow when I'm on the phone to signify that kids are not allowed to make noise or interrupt , unless there's an emergency. It's actually working.
That's so great to hear that you've found a new, better approach for your work! I love the Harry Potter idea, too!
