Embracing the challenges with grace
Now that many people have been thrust into a remote work environment there can be a few bumps along the way. Hopefully your employer has clear policies and guidelines to follow to help you understand the expectations. Good leaders will also communicate regularly to keep everyone informed. If not..try to be patient. With the constant flood of information from various sources, there are a lot of considerations to work through.
If working from home is new to you or your boss, expect a little micromanaging. Some bosses want to retain a measure of control that things are happening. Make sure to keep your boss informed on what you are working on and need help with. Have regular check-ins with them to keep things on track. I've found myself on the phone more with my coworkers now that I can't just walk over to their office. Emails are hard to communicate ideas sometimes. It also helps to stem the feeling of being isolated from your team.
Try focusing on the priorities and how to move things forward.
Some companies may be letting people go and that might mean that you have extra workload. Take it as a blessing that you are still working! Perhaps you have to work reduced hours. That's okay too. The future is uncertain to all of us. We can make it through this!
