My WFH days are coming to a close.
This coming Monday is the first day back to the office.
It will be the first day commuting (bus & train) since March 2020.
And it sucks that the decision-makers at the company don't feel WFH is optimal going forward.
It also sucks that I haven't yet secured a remote optional job yet (very actively looking).
Anyone else returning/has returned to the commuting/return-to-office grind?
I'm trying to find a WFH arrangement to avoid the inevitable comments about what I look like. Seems working from the computer would be great for that lol! In my past part time competer work I had a 5 star rating but it paid under $10 an hour.
I know my WFH days are coming to a close, too. I'm not happy about driving in rush hour traffic, finding a parking spot, and in general, being around crowds of people.
It's funny, when we were working from home, our boss told us that we were doing great, that we'd all adjusted well, the work was getting done, etc., etc. On our last call, he said that working from home isn't working for our department and we'll need to come back in person. I don't know what changed in a few months.
I, too, am looking for a remote position. I just can't (mentally or phsically) go back to 5 days in the office.
Yes! We've been back since mid April and to be frank, my organization did not do it right. We got a call Thursday from our boss asking us to be in the office full time starting Monday. It made for a very tough transition after working from home for almost 6 months.
In reality, it isn't that bad coming back in. My preference would be a hybrid but after many complaints from multiple individuals in our office, I am not sure if it will actually happen.
Keep your head up and remember it will be a transition.
I'm planning on quitting very soon because of the way my company is handling covid - we haven't been allowed to work from home with any regularity since I started last summer, but now they're insisting that everything (most meetings and work with clients has been done via zoom) go back to fully in-person, despite record high positivity rates in our area.
