To clean or not to clean
Management called today with an offer to nearly triple my current hours by joining the “New Cleaning Crew”. She enthusiastically said that I would be sanitizing registers, carts and doors and such. Training and gloves to be provided. I’d not yet heard anyone say the words Coronavirus and OSHA without actually saying them. When I asked if bathrooms would be a duty, she hemmed and hawed then quavered “we’d give you personal protective equipment for that...” She apparently still had a sense of humor because she laughed when I inquired if there would be additional compensation for the higher risk responsibilities. I’m grateful for employment and have a tremendous heart for service, which leaves me conflicted about the reality of what this job entails. Maybe it’s just ego? A hazmat suit doesn’t really go with my red vest and Vans.
Oh and I am at a big box store, we've sold out of hand sanitzer, toilet paper, masks, bread, and chicken. How about you?
We had new processes put in place this week as well. Bathroom door handles all the games up front, even the horse! We have to wash our own registers every hour and are given gloves or hand sanitizers.... our choice.
