I am considering to "downsize" my career.
We have more work than ever, sell impossible deadlines, and quite frankly the stress has been getting to me for a long time.
I am okay with a salary cut, but I noticed that there aren't many mid-level jobs out there, it seems either entry level or management and highly skilled.
How do you explain to a hiring manager that you don't want to go up in your career, but kind of down - and still get hired?
Where do you find "simpler" jobs?
With the overall turmoil, the Great Resignation, they should be out there...
To your first question - I'd sell it in the cover letter! As a hiring manager, I often find myself with overqualified candidates. Having taken small downsizing steps in the past I'm usually pretty lenient to call them up and say "hey - did you apply for a step down on purpose?", but there are some days where I say "big red flag for longevity and contentment." A cover letter that acknowledged the reasons for the transitions would go a long way to easing my mind and encouraging me to pick up the phone.
For the second - agreed with the other poster about Indeed, ZipRecruiter, even Facebook Jobs.
I completely understand wanting to "downsize." Have you looked at job boards? Some top ones to consider are Monster, CareerBuilder, Indeed (my personal favorite), Simply Hired, LinkedIn, Snagajob, and ZipRecruiter.
