Do you think confidence and burnout are correlated?
What do you think? Does confidence protect from burnout? Does a lack of confidence increase the chances of burnout?
Do you think this a chicken and egg thing?
This is such an interesting discussion.
I think there could be a correlation in some people.
Over confident, you can do it all, take on more, power through.
Under confident, you need to prove yourself, show your worth, overcompensate.
Not related to confidence, it's just how you've been programmed and wired!
I did a Ted X talk on the fine line between grit and burnout and attribute burnout more toward, fear, guilt and love.
Check it out and let me know your thoughts!

I do think confidence can be a piece of the puzzle when considering resilience, which is an antidote to burn-out (or at least a mitigating factor). I don't think taking on too much is a sign of confidence, it's a lack of self-awareness and the ability to set healthy boundaries. A lack of confidence, however, might lead people to take on more to "prove" to themselves or others than they're actually adding value.
Nope. If anything, I think having a higher confidence leads to more burnout as burnout is often caused by doing too much without getting a mental and physical break. Those with high confidence typically are more ambitious and trying to take on more than physically and mentally possible.
Agree it’s an interesting way to think of something. But I believe confidence definitely is related to burn out. If you’re at peace with what you do chances are no burn out. And to be at peace for me, means that I’m confident in what I’m doing is right
Interesting! I hadn’t ever really considered the role confidence could play in burnout. In my experience, they’ve seemed unrelated — my burnout is usually attributable to not being able to see the value in what I’m doing or, simply put, feeling like there’s no point. That said, perhaps confidence could be at play underneath there somewhere?? Curious to hear others’ thoughts!
